Scotland

Every person who plays golf must visit and play golf in Scotland, the Home of Golf. The origins of golf date back to St. Andrews in 1457 and in actual fact, King James II banned golf as he wanted to encourage men to practice archery instead!

Glasgow

Scotlands largest city and sits on the banks of the River Clyde, around 20 miles from the mouth of the Atlantic Ocean. A city famed for its Victorian and art nouveau architecture which relates to the prosperity it achieved from the 18th - 20th century due to trade and ship building.

Edinburgh

Scotland’s capital city which in our opinion is one of the best cities in the world for visitors. The Castle looms over the whole city, home to Scotland’s Crown Jewels and the Stone of Destiny which is used in the coronation of Scottish rulers.

Frequently Asked Questions

Scotland is a beautiful country all year round for tourists but as a golfer you ideally want to visit between May and September. April and October are considered shoulder months where prices are cheaper but the weather can be an issue. November to February is definitely not a good time as the temperature can be close to freezing during the day time and even colder at night.

There are literally dozens of excellent courses in Scotland with too many to mention all of them. Highlights on past trips include courses such as St. Andrews (Old and New Courses), Kingsbarns, Archerfield, Western Gailes, Royal Troon, Prestwick and Dundonald Links.

If you want to play at the top courses such as St. Andrews then yes you will need a handicap certificate. I can help arrange this and usually the limit for men is 24 and 28 for ladies.

This would be dependent on what courses we select for your tour. Major cities are Glasgow in the west and Edinburgh in the east and depending on the duration of your trip then staying in both cities for a few nights is certainly a good option and gives easy access to travel to the courses. Hotels are plentiful and I can make recommendations once we start planning the trip.

If you choose the option of a custom tuition based trip then your PGA Pro will be your driver and, depending on the size of the group, the vehicle will be a Mercedes Vito or something similar. He will pick you up from the airport, take you to and from the golf courses and at the end of the trip, back to the airport.

Absolutely, yes. Scotland is a wonderful country for a tourist and there are many options of places to visit and things to do. I can organize everything for you and if your trip is hosted then your PGA Pro will accompany you. Places such as Edinburgh Castle, St. Andrews and whisky tasting are a must for all visitors! Even if you do not like whisky it is a unique experience to listen to the expert talk about the history of it and answer any questions!
